So glad you found us!
Untangle It All exists for people who want to spend more intentionally, live a little cleaner, and stop accidentally supporting systems that don’t align with their values.
This isn’t about perfection -
better choices, without drastic changes.
Many of us care about environmental sustainability, social justice, and the long-term health of our democracy. But modern life is busy, overwhelming, and built for convenience. When everything is optimized for speed and one-click checkout, it’s easy to default to what we’ve always done, even when it no longer feels right.
Untangle It All is here to help make that easier.
Why This Exists
Watching massive corporations grow while small businesses struggle, seeing entire industries consolidated by venture capital, and realizing how just a few companies control so much of what we buy made it clear that convenience often comes at a cost.
What You’ll Find Here
This is a resource for busy people who want to make more intentional choices without drastic changes.
Environmental Sustainability
Through practical swaps like lower-plastic, earth-friendly products that perform just as well as conventional options.
Our Approach
We’re practical realists. Many of us are former over-consumers who are still learning and adjusting. We still shop. We just try to be more intentional.
You’ll see recommendations we genuinely love - things we’ve actually tested, use ourselves, and would recommend to loved ones - along with candid editor notes from real life. A little sarcasm may appear. Favorite finds will be shared.
This is meant to be a safe, welcoming space. Just thoughtful guidance for people who want their spending to reflect what they care about.
Care for the environment didn’t start here. For many of us, it was learned early. Being mindful of ingredients, choosing products that were safer for our bodies and the earth, and avoiding unnecessary waste were just normal habits. Untangle It All is about translating that mindset into smarter purchasing choices today.
What changed was seeing how deeply purchasing power shapes the world around us. January 2025 was a moment that forced us to take a closer look at where money flows and who it ultimately supports.
Untangle It All grew out of the very real experience of trying to step away from default shopping habits - and realizing just how much time and research it takes. An entire weekend spent “untangling” from Amazon. Countless tabs open. Endless “better alternatives” lists that weren’t very helpful.
Most people don’t have the time for that. And they shouldn’t have to.
Social
Responsibility
By supporting small businesses and independent companies that value people, not just scale and profit.
This is not about guilt.
This is not zero-waste absolutism.
This is not homesteading.
It’s about showing that small, deliberate changes add up - and that you can still have convenience without automatically defaulting to the biggest players.
Political
Responsibility
By paying attention to where money goes and who benefits from it.
That means:
Supporting small businesses, local shops, and buying directly from makers whenever possible.
Choosing products made with cleaner, safer ingredients for both our bodies and the earth.
Prioritizing lower-plastic, lower-waste options that reduce environmental impact without sacrificing performance.
Buying fewer, better-quality items designed to last.
Being honest about tradeoffs and realistic about convenience.
Repairing instead of upgrading when it makes sense, even when there’s a learning curve.
